In this city never stop flowing; we can see people’s ways of life along the river, cultures and relationship creating a charm of this small province, Samut Songkram. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations of Thailand. This time, we come to absorb the beauty of the city known as “ city of three times river”. We travel along Mae Klong Riverside, not far from the Amphawa Floating Market to visit this “House of Passion” in which its charm and beauty impress us a lot.
House of Passion or Ruean Sane Haa is a compact hotel on the river bank. It was built from the owner’s passion in Amphawa’ s charms. Khun Chatchai Techasarin, the owner had looked for a quiet piece of land to build a hotel in an area with a very peaceful atmosphere. This hotel is created from the passion in three things; the river, beatify of design, and the magical charms of the antiques, and that is it is called “Ruean Sane Haa.”
The beautiful texture of raw materials like bare concrete and old wood are combined with the design in a retro-vintage loft & gallery enhancing the Ruean Sane Ha different from others. For example, old teakwood houses from the period of King Rama 7th were moved from Bangkok Noi and renovated for a seminar room allocated in the middle of the hotel along the Mae Klong River.
The buildings are remade and divided into 3 big buildings with 5 room types. Totally there are 24 rooms including superior queen, deluxe twin, junior suite, duplex and grand suite for those coming with lovers, family or even group of friends. The rawness of architecture made of bare concrete is diminished by the delicacy of the distinctive wooden shutters newly created to perfectly match the design of Ruean Sa Ne Ha. Or even the use of traditional Thai wisdom as seen on pieces of wooden louvers and stencils to add beauty to the accommodation. It is a perfect combination between the period of time and the Thai lifestyle.
Another thing that makes Ruean Sa Ne Ha charmingly attractive is the showcase of antiques like a gallery exhibiting appliances, tables and chairs and even the decorative items browsed from many places collected by the owner showing from the entrance to the middle of the building. Moreover, we can also feel a little hint of Chinese within some of the design, especially, on the floor of such as a light green blue colored door and a light space made of teakwood, a Chinese mirror inside the building. These things really reflect the background of Khun Chatchai, the Thai-Chinese blood owner. They also help impressively spell the passers-by attraction.
The charm of the river blank matches very well with the beauty of the chic design of the wooden house amidst the nature and tranquil atmosphere. It blends the stories and cultures together creating magically charming beauty. Although time and tide are passing by, the feeling still stays with us as if it were stopped by the charm of the past.
