Beautiful Home, HOME

ANY GIVEN DAY

“Any Given Day” is a short definition that indicates the true identity of this house through the viewpoint of Khun Korn Kornkrit Chaweenitchayakul, a smart looking owner. In the heart of the famous tourist attraction city along the sea, this house is in Hua Hin, and it is a place for relaxing time for family and friends. This Summer House is the second house containing identity and favorite inside, and it is the house where he always wants to come back to relax in anytime.

It is created because we want to have some simple words so meaningful that we can use it as the name of our house. It is from American football matches on Sundays. In the game the looser usually says “Given Sunday” which means there is not only one Sunday. So, I changed it to be Any Given Day which means any days not only one day that we can rest in this place.

We began our conversation with the background of this beloved house. “This piece of land was bought by my family for a long time. I usually come here with my family or my friends when I have holidays because it is in Hua Hin, and it is not far from Bangkok. As it is easy for travelling, we felt like to have a house for living as this Summer House which is used for serving my own family and my friends to relax and spend time together,” says Khun Korn.

Khun Korn started constructing the house with his intention to make it appear with a very smart look in an Industrial Loft style. The house was designed by the working team from Studio68 who were responsible for interpreting the demands of the owners who wanted to have two houses connected together with the same roof but obviously separated. Since he considers the advantages of more functional designs than the value of money the house may cause. “After starting the construction for a while, I realized that I couldn’t come here every day, and it would be more advantageous to make it for rent for tourists. With the size of the area, it could serve the two houses for living with family or a private atmosphere and another house is for rent. However all parts of the study are designed to be separated from each other. Even the water supply as well as electricity system is separated from each other” says the owner.

Functionally, the first condition requested by the owners is blended with Khun Korn’s favorite rawness in style obviously reflected through the construction materials such as steel, bricks and wood. The house is designed as Industrial Loft style that highlights on uncovering the structures and systems of the house together with bricks layered to enhance an attractive look with rawness more outstandingly.

Similarly, furniture and decorative items such as genuine leather sofa, posters of artists in the past as well as collections are all hidden with a hint of American Vintage in which the owner is inspired from being fascinated in American cultures. Khun Korn adds, “It is like when we grow up, we want to take part in doing something bigger such as building a house. When we have our own house, we want to try doing what we like. When I watch American series, I can feel that their houses look beautiful and raw in an industrial style in which I really like. Then I try to adapt it into my house. However, we do not always live in this house; we want to make its atmosphere different and reflect our real favorite style”.

When asking the name of the house which is “Any Given Day,” Khun Korn answers with laughs, “It is created because we want to have some simple words so meaningful that we can use it as the name of our house. It is from American football matches on Sundays. In the game the looser usually says “Given Sunday” which means there is not only one Sunday. So, I changed it to be Any Given Day which means any days not only one day that we can rest in this place.” I believe that it must be great if we could have a house where we can rest privately and a house like Any Given day without any limitation, but it is ready to take care and open for any days or anytime we like.
